FAQ's

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation, is a technique that involves depositing pigment into the upper layer of the skin using a special tattoo device. It's used to create the appearance of makeup, like enhancing the eyebrows, eyeliner, lip color, and scalp/hair tattoo, and can also be used for scar camouflage and more.

Is the procedure painful?

The comfort levels may vary from person to person, but topical numbing creams are used before and during the procedure to minimize any discomfort. Most clients describe the feeling as a light scratching sensation.

How long does the procedure take?

Procedures can take anywhere from 1-3 hours, depending on the area being treated and the specifics of the procedure. This includes time for consultation, numbing, color selection, outlining, and the actual procedure.

Who is a good candidate for permanent makeup?

Most adults in good general health are candidates for permanent makeup. However, the procedure might not be recommended for those with certain health conditions or allergies. It's always best to discuss your health history and expectations during the initial consultation.

Can I wear regular makeup after the procedure?

Once the treated area has completely healed, you can wear traditional makeup if desired. However, one of the major benefits of permanent makeup is reducing the need for daily application.

What is “microblading” method?

Microblading technique uses a handheld tool with a blade formed of tiny needles to create fine, hair-like incisions in the skin. The result is incredibly realistic, as the "hairs" created by the microblade mimic the natural eyebrow hairs very closely. Microblading is often used for those with very sparse or even completely missing brows.

How does “feathering” technique differ from “microblading” method?

Feathering technique is performed with a digital machine, which results in a slightly softer, fluffier look. Feathering involves creating fine hair strokes but generally fills in the brow more densely and is typically used to give a fuller, bushier look to the brows. This technique is often used for those who have a bare amount of existing eyebrow hair as well as who already have a fair amout of hair but want to enhance the fullness and shape.

In both cases, the exact technique used will depend on the client's existing brows, the desired outcome, and the professional's judgment.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Permanent makeup typically lasts for several years. The exact duration can vary depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, age, metabolism, and the specific pigments used. Regular refreshment of color/shape may be required typically after 1-3 years.

What is the recovery time after the procedure?

The initial healing period typically takes about a week, during which time the color will soften and lighten. Complete healing can take up to six weeks. Specific aftercare instructions will be provided to ensure the best results and minimize potential side effects.

why pmu needs touch-up?

The reason behind the necessity for touch-ups in permanent makeup as opposed to body tattoos lies in the varying retention capabilities of different skin areas. Particularly, the facial region tends to shed and regenerate cells at a quicker pace, causing a faster fading of the pigment. This phenomenon is also observed in tattoos on the hands and feet, areas often avoided by tattoo artists due to the rapid fading of ink. Furthermore, the longevity of the pigment significantly depends on its color. For instance, a black eyeliner tattoo is likely to retain its hue longer compared to medium blonde brows crafted using soft, earthy tones, since lighter pigments are absorbed more swiftly by the body.
